RCSI ISLAMIC SOCIETY AGM REMINDER

written by: bilalsubuh.

Introduction.

Brothers and sisters,

Whether we realise or not, there are some group of people who are crying for help. The group of people who are being oppressed every single second. The group of people whose their voices and hardships are not heard and seen. They become a defensive entity. Everything needs to be explained. Everything needs clarification. And guess what? They are our brothers and sisters who believe in Allah and admit that Muhammad is His Messenger.

That is our reality nowadays that we always forget. This is the absolute consequences when Islam does not have the strong say in the world. When Islam is no longer the Ruler of the World. When Islam is weak and divided. And when the Muslim ourselves are overwhelmed with the disease of the heart which is the al-wahn, the love of dunya and the hate of death.

Wake up brothers and sisters, wake up! Wake up and do something that will save us, our religion, our brothers and sisters all around the globe. And strive for the sake of Allah until there is no chaos and the deen is only for Allah. The empire of the Ummah need to be built again. It may take years, it may take centuries. It may take a thousand miles journey.

People say, the journey of a thousand miles starts from a first single step. After the Ottoman Empire collapsed, Islam is like being into its embryonic stage again. Islam is not recognised and seen. However, alhamdulillah, the Muslim decades ago realised that we need to restore the khilafah system and put Islam to the lace where it should be. And when we are born, most of us, in the late 80s, Islam has just on its baby steps. Loads of Muslim warrios had died and become syuhada/martyr to spread the deen of Allah. And it is our responsibility to continue their struggle, to uphold their vision and mission by not forgetting the Quran and Sunnah as our main guidance.

Brothers and sisters,

I am so sorry because I have dragged this reminder session to something irrelevant to our AGM today. I am not urging you to go out and blow yourselves. But I just want you guys to realise that when we say we are doing dakwah, we are not alone. Other people are striving, too. Spreading the Islam is a world-wide vision. We have a vision to change the world. To educate people about Islam and to restore the khilafah system. and as I said, everything needs to be started with the first single step. The steps are hard and full of tribulations. Our Prophet and his companions had gone through all of that. And even during their time, they were even worse.

The question is what has made them so strong, highly-determined to do dakwah even with the continuous threats by the Quraisy, Roman and Persian Empire surrounding them 1400 years ago? The answer is simple. It is because of the firm belief, their proper organisation, and their continuous effort. The three items are the requirements to ensure that a vision will keep moving and eventually be able to achieve its goal.

Brothers and sisters,

From the short history just now, we can draw a hypotheses that organisation i.e. working in jamaah is crucial. The other 2 are important as well but today as we are talking about AGM and the leadership changes, we will be more focusing on the organisation part. Insyaallah I will tell more in future ISOC meetings about these concepts.

Brothers and sisters,

It is crucial to elect person who can be your leader in this college. A good leader is a good follower, too. ISOC is our society. Everyone has a right to say something for the betterment of the society and the leader should hear. The leaders should response and treat everybody fairly. Verily, those who are practicing justice are those who are very close to taqwa. And verily, a just ruler is among the seven people who will get the shade of His throne during the day of resurrection. To become a leader is not an easy task. The companions refused to become the ameer, the governors because they knew the consequences.

However, as I said, the goals cannot be achieved if there’s no well-designed organisational structure. The companions refused to be because they are people who are better than them which is the earlier generation of Islam. But now, do we have choice? No we not. The responsibility has come to us. We are the agent of changes. We are the next generation, the exact copy of the companions whose Quran and Sunnah are flowing in their blood. Whose gonna be the next Abu Bakr? Whose gonna be the next Umar? Whose gonna be the next Uthman, Ali, Umar Abdul Aziz?

So brothers and sister,

Grab this opportunity to work for the sake of Allah in structured and well-planned organisation. Be involved with the socities events and support the new leadership as it is a good motivation for them to work harder. I hope the next ISOC committee is better than the previous committee. And you are the one who determine it. Every vote counts. Once you have voted, it does not mean your job is ‘khalas’. You have to be responsible for your vote. Support the new leadership and give them motivation. Lend them a hand even though they do not need it.

Sorry for taking a bit longer than allocated.

Jazakumulllahu khairan katheera.
